Three concurrent projects connect Cables International to the African continent
Dec 2017- Cables International is concurrently pursuing three cable-supplying projects in Africa. The first is a S$4 billion (US$3 billion) Kaombo project that consists of two FPSOs (floating, production, storage and offloading vessels) for Saipem France. Cables International is supplying to the fabrication sites in Singapore and Indonesia. When completed, both vessels will be situated in the ultra-deepwater Kaombo field located 260km off Luanda, Angola.
At the same time, the company has been appointed by Perenco, Europe’s largest independent oil company, to support the conversion of a Tempera tanker into an FPSO. This is slated for the Yombo field, located off the Republic of Congo.
The third project that the team is working on is for the Tasiast gold mine in the African country of Mauritania. The cable contract was awarded by the mine owner, Kinross Gold Corporation of Canada, as part of a two-phase mine expansion project.
The growth in Africa represents an exciting opportunity for Cables International to build on.
