Celebrating the People

Aseries of heartwarming gatherings was held earlier this year, as colleagues came together to celebrate more people’s milestones.

One gathering carried the warmth of both recognition and farewell. Former Executive Director Jakob Helms marked his 25th work anniversary along with his retirement, closing a chapter that many described as inseparable from the spirit of JJ-Lurgi itself. Colleagues paid tribute not only to his leadership, but to the everyday gestures that defined him: Friday Bak Kut Teh traditions, birthday serenades and an ability to bring ease even during challenging moments. The evening unfolded with heartfelt speeches, laughter and the kind of affection reserved for someone who had long become part of the Group’s fabric.

Elsewhere another celebration honoured Group Treasury Analyst Adeline Tan and Administrative Assistant Shirley Chew on their 25-year journey with the Group. Over tea, pastries and conversation, colleagues reflected on the steady dedication both women have brought to their teams over the years. Thoughtfully crafted crochet flower bouquets and the customary cake added a personal touch to the afternoon.

The season of appreciation continued with a celebration for Head of Human Resources, Malaysia Rahmath Cazi, whose long-standing contributions were honoured through panel conversations, video tributes and light-hearted games with colleagues across the Group. Even George Michael made a memorable “appearance”, much to everyone’s amusement.

Though each occasion carried its own character, together they formed a portrait of a great workplace.
