Learning Beyond the Classroom
In Darkhan, a converted shipping container now serves a different purpose. Through a collaboration between MSM and the NGO Magic Box, a compact library has opened beside School No. 31, offering children a shared space for reading, learning and quiet exploration.
The project forms part of MSM’s wider sustainability efforts, with a focus on expanding access to education in communities beyond major urban centres. Located in Darkhan, the library serves both students from the neighbouring school and children from surrounding residential areas, creating a setting that encourages informal learning alongside the classroom.
Inside, shelves are lined with donated books collected through an employee-led drive, reflecting a broader emphasis on inclusion and participation. The space is designed to be welcoming rather than instructional, allowing children to read, study or spend time together at their own pace.
The Magic Box initiative aims to establish similar portable libraries across, bringing learning resources to places where access can be limited. For MSM, the partnership reflects an approach that links long-term business growth with community development, supporting educational opportunities intended to have a lasting impact well beyond the container’s walls.
