one big family
Jan 2018- The ingredients business of Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) and the ingredients division of Jebsen Group have created a new 50:50 joint venture that combines their expertise and expands their geographical coverage and service capabilities in China.
The partnership is expected to create a win-win situation for Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients and Jebsen Industrial Specialty Ingredients & Solutions.
As Marc Deschamps, Regional Managing Director and CEO of Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients points out, the ingredients business currently has a wide and deep focus on the specialty chemicals and consumer related business in South East Asia while Jebsen Industrial Specialty Ingredients & Solutions has an in-depth understanding of the chemical, food and nutrition business in China. The two entities, while different in scale, business size, and geographic coverage, are very similar in terms of market focus.

“Coming together in China in a new joint venture of equals will create many synergies that will make us a much stronger force in the market,” he said.
The sister companies envision the joint venture as a pan-Asian chemical and ingredients business with the scope to cover markets from Myanmar in the west, Indonesia in the south, the Philippines in the east and Greater China in the north. This, according to Jebsen Group’s Managing Director Helmuth Hennig is an enhanced business model that utilises the strengths of both companies to build for the future.
It also marks a new milestone for the Jebsen & Jessen Family Enterprise. “The decision to form a joint venture with our sister company is a first in the history of our family enterprise,” said Heinrich Jessen, Chairman of Jebsen & Jessen (SEA). “It is a logical step to take given the deep expertise in specialty ingredients distribution developed by both organisations in different geographies over more than half a century.”
